We’re still all absolutely devs about the breakup of 1D, and spend these long summer nights only dreaming about their one-day reunion as the runny makeup stains our tear-sodden pillows. Sob sob!
But we also spend these dank summer nights dreaming about Zayn Malik’s first world tour, which will one day bring him tunefully to the United States of America. Zayn suffers from anxiety, so it might be a while off. Whimper whimper! We sympathise with you Zayn, absolutely!
Yet as we get lost in our languid late evening visions, and as Zayn surely contemplates venturing for the first time to the dirty south solo, the only way this smoky English hunk of muffin can get any hotter is if he’s imagined as a Tennessee stud! We know Gigi, he’s taken!
A ‘Tennessee Stud’ of course refers to the indelible song commonly known in Johnny Cash’s version, after being written and released in 1959 by Jimmy Driftwood. It’s amazing how the lyrics penned some fifty-plus years prior stack up today in relation to Zayn, as though Driftwood was writing the song in some orgiastic premonition of his coming!
Let’s take a look at the track’s refrain and see just how closely the words mirror the real Zayn Malik.
‘The Tennessee Stud was long and lean’
Long, lean, that’s our Zayn Malik alright! He might not actually be all that tall in person, but his build is taut tattooey goodness, pure sweet smouldering sinew!
‘The colour of the sun and his eyes were green’
He sure is a hottie, and while his eyes are commonly referred to as brown they sometimes take on a greenish hue just like the hair he once wore so vividly!
‘He had the nerve and he had the blood’
Now the reference is complete, all the arrows are pointing in Zayn’s direction! Because of course he had the ‘nerve’ to leave One Direction, and to release the steamy ‘Pillowtalk’ as his first solo single. And that video – did it ever get our pulses racing!
‘There never was a horse like the Tennessee Stud’
A bit weird this one, and we don’t want to be lewd, but just look at him!
